Pinwheel of Death
In the installation Pinwheel of Death, a multicolored paper pinwheel spins endlessly on a table, propelled by the breeze of a metal fan. The title is a reference to the Mac OS ‘spinning wait cursor’, an animated graphic used to signify when an application is no longer responding to the system. By transforming this symbol, a visual shorthand for technical dysfunction, into an actual pinwheel on top of a literal desktop, this installation absurdly recreates the often futile experience of waiting for the wait cursor to stop spinning.
